WORCESTER, MA — A romantic thriller featuring some of Whitney Houston's best-known songs is coming to The Hanover Theatre this fall.
"The Bodyguard" will run from Nov. 6 through Nov. 8 at the downtown Worcester theater. Individual tickets will go on sale Aug. 7 and cost between $55 and $108.
Based on the 1992 film starring Houston and Kevin Costner, the musical follows former Secret Service agent Frank Farmer after he is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. The professional relationship develops into a romance.
The production features songs including "I Will Always Love You," "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," "So Emotional," "Queen of the Night," "Saving All My Love" and "One Moment in Time."
Samantha Saltzman directs the production, which features a book by Alexander Dinelaris and choreography by Jim Cooney. Casting will be announced later.
The musical debuted in London's West End in 2012. Its North American premiere was held at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey in 2016, followed by a U.S. tour that visited 42 cities.
Tickets will be available through The Hanover Theatre website here, at the theater's box office or by calling 877-571-7469.
