WORCESTER, MA — The city's summer collegiate baseball team is looking ahead to next summer after a playoff run that ended in the Futures League semifinals.
The Worcester Bravehearts thanked fans, host families, season ticket holders, sponsors and staff in a season-ending message on Wednesday. The season ended following a 5-4 loss to the Vermont Lake Monsters last week.
Vermont scored four runs with two outs in the ninth inning to win the deciding third game of the semifinal series.
Worcester won the series opener 11-6 before Vermont earned a 9-6 victory at Fitton Field to force Game 3. The Bravehearts carried a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning of the deciding game.
"Baseball brings you to Fitton Field. Community is what keeps you here," the Bravehearts said in the message.
The organization highlighted several events from the season, including Baseball in Education games, Latino Heritage Night, Fourth of July weekend activities, summer camps and weekly fireworks. The team said an auction of its Los Bravos jerseys benefited El Buen Samaritano and the Worcester families the nonprofit serves.
The Bravehearts also recognized players with ties to the organization who were selected in the 2026 MLB Draft. The team said five former players and current Bravehearts player Cole Travers were drafted.
The Toronto Blue Jays selected Travers, a Florida high school shortstop, with the 582nd overall pick in the 19th round, according to Sportsnet. Major League Baseball said 613 players were chosen across 20 rounds in the draft, which concluded July 12.
The organization said offseason work will include planning promotions, assembling next season's roster and developing community events.
"We can't wait to see you back at Fitton Field next summer," the team said.
