Members of the department's Neighborhood Response Team were patrolling the area when they saw Venuti remove a large clear bag from his backpack containing what appeared to be a baseball-sized rock of crack cocaine, police said.

Venuti attempted to flee when officers approached and tried to place the bag inside his pants, according to police. He also pulled away, tensed his arms and kicked toward officers before being placed in handcuffs, police said.

One of Venuti's kicks struck a police cruiser's front bumper and caused a large dent, according to the department.

Officers recovered nine bags containing 35.35 grams of suspected crack cocaine, eight bags containing 12.19 grams of suspected fentanyl, a bag of suspected crystal methamphetamine and a bag of oxycodone pills weighing 42.79 grams, police said.

Police also reported finding cash, a digital scale and a replica firearm in Venuti's backpack.
