WORCESTER, MA — One lucky Massachusetts Lottery player won a large prize after buying a ticket in the city.
A winning $50,000 ticket was purchased at Grafton Hill Market, 334 Grafton St., in Worcester last Wednesday. The prize was won from the Massachusetts State Lottery's "$10,000,000 Cashword" game.
To win, a player must uncover enough letters to complete winning words in the CASHWORD puzzles. Prizes are based on the number of complete words revealed.
The odds of winning a prize worth $50,000 in the game are one in more than 100,000, according to the state lottery.
The state lottery commission did not share who won the prize, but retailers that sell a winning ticket typically receive a bonus from the Lottery.
Another $50,000 prize was sold at a store in Worcester late last month. One lucky winner won the prize from the Massachusetts State Lottery's "$50,000 Star Cashword Game." The ticket was purchased at a gas station in Downtown Worcester, according to the state lottery.
The Massachusetts State Lottery publishes a daily list of winning tickets sold statewide on its website. You can find it here.
