WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man is facing charges after police said officers found a firearm inside his vehicle during a traffic stop on Main Street.
Derry Walker, 31, was charged with multiple firearms and motor vehicle offenses following a traffic stop shortly before 1 a.m. on Monday, Worcester police said.
Police said officers stopped the vehicle because it was uninsured and later determined Walker did not have a Massachusetts driver's license and had an outstanding warrant.
Police said Walker was asked to exit the vehicle and was placed in handcuffs. During an inventory of the vehicle, officers found a firearm in the center console, according to police.
Walker did not have a Massachusetts license to carry, police said.
He was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of a loaded firearm without a license to carry, possession of ammunition without a license to carry, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was also arrested on the outstanding warrant.
