Worcester Elementary School Gets Large Sports Equipment Donation

WORCESTER, MA — An elementary school in Worcester was gifted new athletic gear for physical education classes and after-school activities.

Belmont Street Community School launched a two-year partnership with the national nonprofit Good Sports during a Mini Field Day earlier this month, the school district announced. The partnership will allow the school to request additional sports equipment as needed.

The initial donation included equipment for pickleball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, badminton, gymnastics and flag football. Good Sports also provided more than 200 T-shirts, athletic socks, training and recovery gear and equipment maintenance tools.

Students and staff used the equipment during basketball, volleyball, flag football and team game stations at the field day. Volunteers from TJX Companies also participated.

"Physical education is an important part of a child's educational experience, helping students build healthy habits, confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for being active," said Worcester Public Schools Superintendent Brian E. Allen. "We are grateful to Good Sports for giving our students the opportunity to explore a wide range of sports and activities with equipment that makes learning active, engaging, and fun.
