WORCESTER, MA — A new restaurant is looking to open its doors in Worcester in the coming months.
Café Eidy is seeking a Common Victualler license for 643 Chandler St. Business owners will go before the Worcester Licensing Commission on Thursday to request the license, which covers food service.
The restaurant is expected to serve dinner during the week and brunch on weekends. Café Eidy describes itself as a neighborhood restaurant offering dishes influenced by flavors from around the world and made with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, according to its website.
The business's opening had been pushed back due to "unforeseen circumstances," according to an announcement from August. Café Eidy cited the time required to navigate permits, zoning and other parts of opening a restaurant.
"We're working hard to make Café Eidy everything we envisioned, and I can't wait to welcome you through our doors," a business owner wrote in the announcement.
A more recent opening date of February 2027 was reported by the Telegram & Gazette, which interviewed owner and executive chef David de Castro in September. De Castro is opening the restaurant with his wife, Amber Goldberg.
De Castro is the executive chef and managing owner, while Goldberg will oversee hospitality and front-of-house operations, according to Café Eidy's website. The restaurant is named for De Castro's mother, Eileen Riggs, nicknamed Eidy.
The Chandler Street building previously housed Perry's Tatnuck Deli, which closed in November 2024, according to the Telegram & Gazette.
