WORCESTER, MA — One lucky lottery player in the Bay State won a major prize last week.
A winning $150,000 ticket was purchased at Shaw's in Worcester on Wednesday. The prize was won from the Massachusetts State Lottery's "Powerball" game.
To win, a player must select five numbers between 1 and 69 and one Powerball number between 1 and 26. Players can choose their own numbers or have them randomly selected. Tickets cost $2 per play, with an optional Power Play feature available for an additional $1 that can multiply non-jackpot prizes.
The odds of winning a $150,000 prize through Powerball's Power Play feature are approximately one in 913,129, according to the lottery.
The state lottery commission did not share who won the prize, but retailers that sell a winning ticket typically receive a bonus from the Lottery.
Meanwhile, another major prize was sold in Worcester last week. A winning $50,000 ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven location in Worcester on Tuesday. The prize was won from the Massachusetts State Lottery's "Power Play™ Cashword" game.
