WORCESTER, MA — Two new restaurants are preparing to bring Jamaican and Mexican food to Lincoln Street.
The Worcester License Commission unanimously approved common victualler licenses for Jamaican Bites at 169A Lincoln St. and Taqueria Acapulcos at 453 Lincoln St. during its Oct. 22 meeting. Both eateries have not yet announced an opening date.
Jamaican Bites owner Ali Booth, a Worcester resident, plans to serve Jamaican dishes including beef patties, oxtail, jerk chicken, curry chicken and stew peas.
The restaurant received approval to operate from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It will be closed Sundays.
At the same time, Taqueria Acapulcos will be a 12-seat restaurant serving regional Mexican food. The business currently operates a food truck under the same name at 135 Westboro Rd. in North Grafton.
The Grafton Planning Board previously approved a basement food preparation and storage area supporting the truck, according to the town's planning decision.
Owner Christian Surian, a Westborough resident, told commissioners the restaurant is an expansion of the Grafton operation. The Worcester location received approval to operate from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
During the Thursday meeting, commissioners also unanimously approved operating hours for a Fit Bar at the YMCA of Central Massachusetts, 75 Shore Drive. The bar plans to sell energy drinks and bottled water, with snacks potentially added later.
The Fit Bar may operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
