In and Around the St. Pat's Day Parade in Worcester

What's happening in and around the parade. Park Grill, Leitrims, Loft 266 and Beatniks among those offering specials, live music.

WORCESTER, MA — Awash in green hats, jackets, shirts and, in some cases, beer, Park Ave. in Worcester annually becomes the home of the St. Patrick's Day parade.

The parade starts at noon at the corner of Mill Street and continues up Park Ave. to the corner of Highland Street, lasting approximately two hours.

There are nearly 100 floats and participants marching or walking in this year's parade, including the Police Pipes and Drums, the Girl Scouts of America, the mayor, Wachusett Brewing Company, the Melha Shriners, the Worcester Shriners, the Boy Scouts, Joann Warrant Dance Studio, Worcester Men of Song, South Worcester Sports, Leicester Town Band, Worcester Pride and many more.

A beer garden is located at the Emerald Club, 258 Highland St., and is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Maureen Binienda, principal of South High, is this year's Grand Marshal.

Other events/activities/promotions:

  • Beatnik's at 433 Park Ave. opens at 11 a.m., and offers two live bands - Sharpshooter and King Moonracer - beverage specials, outdoor beer garden, brats and burgers, Jell-O shots, tube shots, corned beef on rye sandwiches and more.
  • The Flock is playing at the 266 Bar and Lounge, 266 Park Ave.
  • Voted "best parade crowd," Park Grill and Spirits, 257 Park Ave., features live music by No Alibi, and opens at 11 a.m. on parade day
  • Leitrims Pub has DJ M & DJ Soup Josh Venditti deejaying from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., playing a mix of Irish songs, along with Top 40 songs
  • Bret Talbert plays after the parade - acoustic and Irish music - at the Knights of Columbus, 44 Circuit Ave., at 1:30 p.m.
