ArtsWorcester Announces Gallery Opening: 'Functional Spaces'

ArtsWorcester presents Functional Spaces photographs by Susan Sedgwick opening Wednesday, July 20, 2016, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at the Franklin Square Salon Gallery, Hanover Theater.

Photographing with a Hasselblad, Sedgwick traversed from Utah to Cambodia to capture private, domestic spaces: rustic kitchens, stark monastery rooms, and primitive bathing facilities. These prints, some from film and some from digital files, depict the hardships and pleasures of domestic lives all over the world. Her formal compositions invoke the individuals who inhabited these spaces, and invite us to visualize ourselves living, cooking, and sleeping there.
