Author and Veteran Wildlife Photographer Partners with Local Nonprofit

Book launches in tandem with Children's Book Week 2022

MONSON, MA (May 2, 2022) — Today marks the beginning of Children’s Book Week 2022. Author and wildlife photographer Cathleen Burnham is celebrating with the launch of her latest project, Doyli to the Rescue. This book is the first in a series of inspiring stories highlighting wildlife conservation efforts by kids around the world.

“We are over the moon to be working with Cathleen on this book series,” says Amanda Renna, Founder & CEO at Travelnitch, a nonprofit publisher based in Western Mass. “It’s a real win for us, given her extensive experience and passion for travel. We believe Doyli’s story will inspire a whole new generation of kids who are eager to learn about the world.”

First published in 2015, this book has been given new life by the nonprofit organization Travelnitch. It follows 10-year-old Doyli as she sets out to rescue orphaned monkeys from her island home in the Peruvian Amazon. Burnham is excited about this rebirth and the opportunity to partner with Travelnitch. Half of all proceeds will support their ongoing work to inspire little explorers around the world through virtual and real-world travel.

“The point of my books has always been to inspire kids to see our world, but with the added delight of having a purpose while traveling,” says Burnham. “My own calling is to record and help Earth’s traditional cultures and wild animals. I hope my books inspire a similar passion in readers, so that this work I deem so important will have an army of helpers.”

A veteran author and photographer, Cathleen Burnham specializes in wildlife and tribal peoples. She has travelled to over sixty countries covering stories about animal conservation, disappearing cultures, and women’s rights. She currently splits her time between homes in Rochester, NY and Hampstead, NC.

Debuting in print on August 1, Doyli to the Rescue is now available for pre-order. Advance copies can be purchased online at doyli.travelnitch.org.
