Barur Raj Rajeshkumar To Run As MA State Representative For 14th Worcester District
He has served on the Select Board in West Boylston since 2016.

WORCESTER, MA — West Boylston Select Board member Barur Raj Rajeshkumar announced Thursday that he is running for State Representative in the state's 14th Worcester District.
Rajeshkumar announced his candidacy to represent the district, which includes West Boylston and parts of Worcester: Ward 1 Precinct 5, all of Ward 2, and Ward 3 Precincts 3, 5, and 6.
"Worcester and West Boylston have been overlooked by the state for too long. We are living with the consequences," Rajeshkumar wrote in his announcement. "Overlooked no more. We deserve a State Representative who will stand up, fight for change, and bring our fair share of funding back Home."

Rajeshkumar has served on the Select Board in West Boylston since 2016, and said he has worked on town budgets, capital planning, public safety facilities, and long-term fiscal decisions, all skills he plans to bring to the State House.
He said he is running because representation at the State House is about more than casting votes. "The most important work of a State Representative happens early, when decisions are made about local aid, school funding, infrastructure investment, and resources for our communities," he said.

Rajeshkumar said the ongoing challenges in Worcester and West Boylston are rising costs, limited land for growth, aging infastructure and increasing service demands. All of those things put pressure on local budgets.
"As State Representative, I will focus on early and consistent advocacy for fair state funding, responsible infrastructure investment, and local aid that reflects actual community needs. I believe in results over rhetoric and accountability over appearances."

Currently serving in that role is Jim O'Day (D), who announced his candidacy for re-election earlier this week. A primary election will be held on Sept. 1.
