Worcester Tercentennial Weekend: Parade, Music, Fireworks

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester will mark its 300th birthday this weekend with a series of events, including a concert featuring local and national musicians.

The Worcester Tercentennial committee on Wednesday announced the lineup for a special June 12 concert at the DCU Center, which will cap a weekend of 300th birthday festivities.

Headlining the concert will be R&B singer-songwriter Brian McKnight and the Boston Pops conducted by Damon Gupton. Grafton native and "The Voice" runner-up Ricky Duran will also perform at Polar Park during the birthday weekend.

All tercentennial events will be free, but will require tickets. Here's a rundown of the weekend of tercentennial events:

June 10

  • Canal District stroll followed by fireworks at Polar Park and a performance by Ricky Duran

June 11

  • Tercentennial road race begins at 9 a.m., parade begins at 11 a.m. in downtown Worcester. From noon to 5 p.m., the tercentennial festival will take place behind City Hall featuring performances organized by stART on the Street.

June 12

  • Boston Pops and Brian McKnight at 4 p.m. at the DCU Center. Find tickets here. That same time, the Worcester Bravehearts will host a family outing.
