WORCESTER, MA — A core piece of the Canal District restaurant scene is closing this month.

The owners of Buck's Whiskey and Burger Bar along Green Street said the restaurant would close for good no Nov. 20 with new owners coming in 2023. Ahead of the last day, the restaurant will only be hosting private events and providing catered meals.

We wish the new owners nothing but the best in their new venture to come early 2023. So be sure to mark your calendars and come in one last time for your favorite burger. We will miss you all, but are excited and ready for our next chapter," owner Nick Panarelli said in the Facebook post.

Panarelli opened the bar and restaurant in 2018, telling MassLive at the time he hoped Green Street would become the next Shrewsbury Street. The arrival of the Worcester Red Sox was years away at that point.

Other Green Street mainstays Broth and the Hangover Pub closed in September. A Rhode Island-based restaurant is planning to move into the former Hangover Pub space. In another nearby replacement, The Sundown, a new concept from deadhorse hill owner Sean Woods, took over the former Dive Bar space at the corner of Green and Temple streets.
