Blackstone River Valley, RI/MA – [9/14/2025] – Discover the untold stories of the Blackstone River Valley’s critical role during World War II at a special commemorative event featuring dynamic displays, reenactors, historians, and local organizations. Spanning 25 towns across Rhode Island and Massachusetts, the Blackstone Valley was a powerhouse of wartime production—responding rapidly and effectively to the call for support on the home front.
Event Highlights Include:
Living history displays from Baker Company 1/21 Marines, Fox Co 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment 82nd Airborne, 3-5-0 Girls, and 43ID 169th Co F. offering a firsthand look at WWII gear produced in the Blackstone Valley and how it shaped life on the front lines across all theaters of war
Special exhibitions from local museums and historical organizations, including the Museum of Worcester, the International War Museum, the Hopedale Women’s History Project, Dept of Conservation and Recreation, and the Blackstone River National Historical Park.
During WWII, the Blackstone Valley’s industries swiftly adapted to wartime demands—producing essential materials such as wire for jeeps and communication systems, wool and cotton for uniforms and blankets, and rubber for gas masks. This event pays tribute to the Valley's resilience, innovation, and contributions to the Allied victory.
