One in twelve people, including one in nine children, do not have enough healthy food to eat.
The rising cost of living exacerbates these challenges. Many families are forced to make difficult choices between purchasing food and covering other essential expenses. The Worcester County Food Bank has observed a 32% increase in the number of families seeking food assistance over the past year.
To empower families in our community to thrive, we are organizing our Annual Food Drive from June 8-14, 2026, at both Shaw’s Supermarket locations in Worcester. Our goal is to replenish our pantry for the busy summer months, ensuring local parents can provide nourishing meals and essential household items for their families, regardless of the challenges they face.
There will be collection bins located at both Shaw’s Supermarket locations throughout the week. Staff and volunteers will also be on site June 10, 12, 13, and 14 to collect food and monetary donations while helping raise awareness about summer food insecurity in our community.
You can support the drive by organizing your own food collection at work, through your church, or with friends and family. Donations can be dropped off at 1059 Main St. or 117B Stafford St. in Worcester. Supporters can also purchase items through our Amazon Wish List and have them shipped directly to the pantry.
Every donation helps ensure local children and families have access to nutritious food and essential household items throughout the summer months.
