WORCESTER, MA — A gunman opened fire on a car Monday night in Worcester's Bell Hill neighborhood, but the driver escaped uninjured, police are reporting.

The driver was stopped at a stop sign near Forestdale Road and Westminster Street at around 8:30 p.m. when the shooting happened. Police said that a dark-colored SUV came down Westminster and a passenger opened fire with a handgun.

One bullet penetrated the passenger side of the victim's car, and damage from other bullets was found in the area, police said.

The shooting is under investigation, but police said they had "limited" information about who was responsible for the shooting.
