In A Case Of Mistaken Identity, Man Gets Stabbed In The Arm At Gas Station

WPD is looking for a suspect who stabbed another man in the arm, thinking he was the same man involved in an earlier altercation.

WORCESTER, MA — After a case of mistaken identity, a man stabbed another in the arm because he thought he was involved in a verbal fight with a girl earlier.

Worcester police around 7:20 p.m. on Monday responded to calls about a 51-year-old man who had just been stabbed in his arm near the Shell gas station on Madison Street.

Witnesses told police that a woman was sitting in her car at the station while a friend, a male, was pumping gas. The male suspect allegedly walked up to the woman and they got into a verbal fight, the suspect spitting in her face before fleeing in a vehicle.

The 51-year-old victim was walking near the gas station at the time, and thinking that the man who was pumping gas was the same person involved in the altercation earlier, the suspect stopped his car. The victim tried to tell the suspect that he wasn't the man involved in the fight, but the man pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the arm.

The stabbing victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injury.

At this time, detectives are actively working to identify the suspect involved.
