Clothes Pile, Heater Possible Factors In Deadly Worcester Fire
The Nov. 13 fire along Stockholm Street left firefighter Lt. Jason Menard dead, and three other firefighters wounded.

WORCESTER, MA — The investigation into a house fire in Worcester that killed a firefighter has identified several possible causes, including a pile of clothes stacked near a heater, according to reports.
The fire broke out early in the morning on Nov. 13 in a triple-decker at 7 Stockholm St. Lt. Jason Menard and several other firefighters from the McKeown Road station rushed inside to rescue residents trapped on the upper floors. But when the fire grew too intense, Menard became trapped. He helped two other firefighters escape the blaze before he died.
The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, which may have started on the second floor, according to reports.
Menard and Worcester Firefighter Christopher Roy, who died last year, were expected to receive medals on Tuesday from the state fire marshal and homeland security secretary.
