Creamer Won't Challenge LeBoeuf In Worcester House Race
In a statement, Creamer lamented that the 17th Worcester House seat likely won't reflect its new minority-majority status.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester Human Rights Commission member Guillermo Creamer said Tuesday he won't run for the state House seat held by Rep. David LeBoeuf, a political question left hanging after LeBoeuf declined to run for retiring state Sen. Harriette Chandler's seat earlier this year.
In a statement Tuesday, Creamer lamented that the 17th Worcester House seat won't have a candidate in 2022 who would represent the district's majority-minority status. The state Legislature redrew the district in 2021, making it one of 33 districts across the state where people of color make up a majority of the demographic.
"Creating more majority-minority seats during last year's redistricting was a great first step, but it is clear that there is more to be done to help create a state Legislature that reflects our state," Creamer said in a statement.

Earlier this year, LeBoeuf was poised to run for Chandler's seat after she announced her retirement in January. Creamer and Worcester community organizer Nelly Medina were both seen as potential candidates if LeBoeuf vacated the seat.
Creamer said he decided not to challenge LeBoeuf due to commitments to projects in Worcester, including the Human Rights Commission.

No other candidates have signed up to run for the 17th Worcester seat. The district spans Worcester's Main South neighborhood west to the airport and south to the Auburn border; the district also includes all of Leicester. Candidates have until June 7 to file nomination papers to run for state office.
Two candidates are running for Chandler's seat: Worcester Mayor Joseph Petty Jr. and YWCA of Central Massachusetts executive Robyn Kennedy.
