WORCESTER, MA — The DCU Center Arena and Convention Center has a new general manager, the company announced on Wednesday.

Now, Peterson will take on the role from longtime General Manager Sandy Dunn, who retired last year. Dunn was one of the first women in the industry to serve in a leadership role.

Peterson has been a longtime leader in the Worcester Community. She graduated from Worcester State College and served on the Board of Trustees for Worcester State University.

She also worked for the City of Worcester for eight years, most recently serving as the Chief of Staff to City Manager Eric D. Batista. In that role, she worked closely with city officials and community members, and helped plan large-scale events, public programs, and other community initiatives.

Peterson also served as director of marketing for the DCU Center for nine years, beginning in 2008.

"It has been a privilege to serve the City of Worcester for the last 8 years, but I am exhilarated to return home to the DCU Center and help usher in a new generation of clients and fans while building upon the success that has been established over the last four decades,” Peterson said in a statement.

In the new role, Peterson will work closely with the city and her team at the DCU to help enhance the arena and maximize community opportunities, the company said.

“The DCU Center is an important anchor institution in the live entertainment and hospitality industry, driving significant economic impact in downtown Worcester, and its leadership must acknowledge and amplify that,” said City Manager Batista. Amy demonstrated impeccable creativity and leadership during her dedicated years of service to the municipality, for which I am extremely grateful, and I look forward to continuing to collaborate with her in a new capacity.”
