WORCESTER, MA — It's Monday, and we're beginning the weekend with cooler and wetter weather. This is an important week for elections, with the deadline to register for the Sept. 1 primary coming up Saturday, which is also the day early in-person voting starts across the state.

In Worcester, police responded to a home in the Indian Lake early Monday morning on a report of a shooting. Police believe a 25-year-old man shot his girlfriend and then turned the gun on himself in an attempted murder-suicide. It was the second reported double-shooting in the city since Sunday night.
