Dozens Of Worcester Police, Firefighters Tested For Coronavirus
The first responders are getting tests at a new facility set up in Shrewsbury, according to city officials.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester is moving ahead with plans to test city police and firefighters for coronavirus. As of Sunday afternoon, 37 first responders had received tests.
The announcement came during Worcester's daily coronavirus briefing on Sunday. City Manager Edward Augustus also said that the city received another positive COVID-19 test, bringing Worcester's total to 13 cases.
The city's first responders are being tested at a new facility set up in the parking lot at a Shrewsbury CVS along Route 9. So far, 19 police and 18 firefighters have been tested. Testing first responders is a priority, officials have said, to keep them healthy and responding to emergencies during the COVID-19 outbreak.
There were 646 COVID-19 cases statewide as of Sunday afternoon, and five people have died in Massachusetts. There were 37 cases in Worcester County as of Sunday, according to state health officials.
