The victim was emptying items from his trunk when the driver hit him, Sunday night.
WORCESTER, MA- A crash on Sunday night on Vernon Street in Worcester left the victim pinned between two cars. Police said the victim underwent a double leg amputation.
Police said the victim, a 36-year-old Worcester man, had been emptying things from the trunk of his car when a car crashed into him, pinning him between both. The force of the crash was so intense that it pushed two other parked cars in front of the victim's car forward as as well, according to police. There was no sign the driver hit the brakes, police said.
The driver was identified as Jeffrey Pillco, 22, of Worcester. Police said during their interview they could smell alcohol on his breath and he was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Liquor and causing serious injury.
Pillco was arraigned Monday in District Court and the judge entered a 'not guilty' plea on his behalf, setting bail at $10,000 cash, according to the Worcester Telegram.
A GoFundMe page was created on Monday for the victim, identified on the page as Andy Rodriguez. The page had a goal of raising $10,000 dollars for Rodriguez's recovers and says he is still in the intensive care unit. In four hours the page raised over $8,000.
