Driving 97 MPH While High On Mass Pike Gets Man Arrested: Police

A 21-year-old man was nabbed after nearly hitting 100 miles per hour while high, police said.

WARREN, MA — A 21-year-old man who was driving almost 100 m.p.h while high on the Mass Pike was arrested Thursday night, state police said.

Police said Cameron Derose, of West Boylston, was pulled over in Warren after a trooper noticed his Toyota Tacoma weaving in and out traffic going 97 in a 65 m.p.h zone.

Police said the trooper "smelled freshly burnt marijuana and noticed further indicators of illegal drug use and possible impairment."

Derose was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, open container of marijuana, speeding, left lane restriction on the Pike, marked lanes violation on the Pike, and following too close on the Pike.

Derose was scheduled to be arraigned in Palmer District Court Friday.
