Dressbarn, the women’s clothing store that is winding down operations and closing all 650 stores, has announced the first round of stores that will close in the coming weeks. One store in Massachusetts is included in the first round of closures.

A list posted to the Dressbarn website on Friday names 28 locations that will be closing in June and July. The Springfield location at Five Town Plaza is among them, and is slated to close before the end of the month.

When Dressbarn announced that it would be winding down operations, it did not disclose when stores would begin shutting down. Dressbarn CFO Steven Taylor called the decision “difficult but necessary” as the stores had “not been operating at an acceptable level of profitability in today’s retail environment.”

The company employs about 6,800 people across the country. Dressbarn has said employees will be notified when decisions are made about individual store closures and given “transition support.”
