Foster Mom Indicted Over Toddler's 2015 Death: Worcester DA

Kimberly Malpass, 39, has been charged in connection to the death of a 2-year-old and the injury of another child, prosecutors said.

WORCESTER, MA — A former Auburn foster mother was indicted Wednesday in the 2015 death of a 2-year-old girl, according to the Worcester County District Attorney's office.

Kimberly Malpass, 39, was charged by a grand jury with two counts of reckless endangerment of a child and one count of misleading a police investigation, according to the DA's office. The charges are in response to the death and the injury of a second child.

Avalena Conway-Coxon and Samara Sepulveda, who was 22 months old at the time, were found unresponsive in Malpass' home in August 2015. Conway-Coxon died shortly after at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Authorities have not determined an official cause of death, but both were thought to have suffered heat strokes.

Malpass will be arraigned at an unnamed date at district court in Worcester.
