Fundraiser Aids Family Of Worcester Girl, 6, Who Died Suddenly
The first-grade Woodland Academy student died unexpectedly before Christmas at Boston Children's Hospital.

WORCESTER, MA — The family of a Worcester elementary school student who died suddenly before Christmas has mounted a fundraiser to pay for her funeral.
Melayah, 6, died one week ago at Boston Children's Hospital due to an "unexpected illness," her family said. The girl was in first grade at Woodland Academy elementary school in Main South.
"Melayah was spirited, funny, loving little girl who never left [mother] Jen’s side. She was loved by the nursing staff at BCH and by all who knew her," aunt Martin Valiton said in the GoFundMe fundraiser.

On Thursday morning, the fundraiser was about $1,500 shy of its $6,000 goal ahead of a planned memorial service on Friday. The fundraiser will be used for funeral expenses, and for a celebration of life for Melayah, Valiton said.
Our Woodland family lost a precious little first grader. The family has set up a Go Fund Me to pay for the services. If anyone is able to contribute, I know the family would be very grateful. 🙏🏼 https://t.co/Rv6pDqOXMF
