The Future of the American's JFK Flight Out Of Worcester

You simply get to JFK too late to make connections departing Worcester.

(Jenna Fisher/Patch)

Today we were inspired by our guest blogger Dylan on the FlyORH website, click here to read his blog. The biggest problem with the American Flight is that it simply leaves too late from here and gets back too early:

  • Departs Worcester 1:09 p.m., arrives at JFK 2:19 p.m.
  • Departs JFK 11:30 a.m., arrives at ORH at 12:39 p.m.

You simply get to JFK too late to make connections departing Worcester then coming back, the plane leaves too early, making it difficult to get back to ORH the same day. As a result the loads have not been good. Matter of fact real bad.

After JetBlue cancelled both of their JFK flights, we had hoped to see American make a change to their schedule. Specifically early departure with late return, but to date no changes. This flight will continue to struggle!

There are two possibilities (stealing from Dylan):

  1. JFK shifts back to Philadelphia. Let’s remain realistic, Chicago or Charlotte would be nice, but it is not going to happen. Philadelphia actually performed pretty well prior to COVID. When it returned, the flight operated in the worst time-slot we have ever seen (7:30 PM arrival, *8:15 PM departure) and still performed better than the JFK flight we have now.
  2. American pulls out entirely. We do not see much of a middle ground here, at some point the cost of doing business just isn’t worth it. It’s not like they are going to get kicked out of Logan for it — they did their best, gave ORH a chance and Massport didn’t come through. What more do they want?

Let's hope changes are made to this flight, either times or different destination. If none are made, we can see American stopping this flight.
