Goodbye Glazy Susan: Donut Shop Debuts Last Menu

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester's first gourmet donut shop will close at the end of January — but not before unleashing a horde of freshly baked treats into the world.

Glazy Susan founders and bakers Joe and Susan Skrzek announced over the weekend that they would close the shop by Jan. 29. The donut shopped opened in the former Figs & Pigs space at the DCU Center in fall 2020 after getting its start as a pop-up around Worcester.

"This is largely a personal decision to fully shift our time, energy, and focus to our growing family and our careers outside of Glazy," the owners said Saturday. "This decision has also been influenced by the staggering rise in food costs and the incredibly difficult labor market."

The pair dropped the shop's final menu Wednesday after tallying votes from fans. Glazy Susan will also be offering specialty items not necessarily listed below in the final weeks.

Brioche

• Glazy Susan: vanilla, local honey glaze
• Vietnamese Coffee: Acoustic Java coffee, condensed milk drizzle, crushed espresso beans
• Chocolate Sprinkle: Herbert's chocolate glaze, seasonal sprinkles
• Hot Cocoa: Glazy Susan signature filled ring, house made chocolate cream filling, white vanilla glaze, marshmallow buttercream, chocolate crispearls
• Tiramisu: espresso soak, house made mascarpone cream, Dutch process cocoa power, mini chocolate chips
• Cinnamon Roll (Friday to Sunday): brioche, cinnamon, cream cheese frosting

Cake

• Maple French Toast Cake: maple cake, local maple glaze, cinnamon cream cheese frosting
