Goodness Through Wellness: MetroWest Yoga Mobilizes Members to Support Local and National Charities

Training Center Holds Holiday Season Community Fundraising Events

Throughout the holiday season and year, Metrowest Yoga and Learning Center holds community fundraising events in our Worcester and Westboro studios. Funds raised from the studios’ community events support local, regional and national charities and individuals including: State Trooper Thomas Clardy Fund, Project Just Because, Bodhi Mind Yoga, Tibetan Foundation, and Yoga Reaches Out.

Metrowest Yoga and Learning Center’s website lists the days and times of specific workshops and events during which attendees can donate funds or goods to support less fortunate members of our community.

Shawn Shaw, owner of Metrowest Yoga and Training Center, is the driving force behind the studio’s philanthropic endeavors and outreach. “We all struggle with obstacles, and during this time of year, people often confront financial difficulties,” she says. “Our community is fortunate to be in a position to help others, and we will continue to do so. Yoga isn’t just about taking care of ourselves; it’s also about caring for others.”

As more studies link mindfulness, charity and volunteering to improvements in physical, mental and spiritual wellness, Metrowest Yoga’s community fundraising classes offer practical long-lasting health benefits, including:

  • Increased flexibility; reduced metabolic heart rate and improved muscle tone.
  • Measurable immune system improvement; practicing regularly yields more energy and reduces stress (important around the holidays): You'll look healthier, more vibrant and experience mental clarity.
  • Healthier skin tone through better blood circulation, improving skin color and suppleness.
  • Regularly practicing Yoga is physically stimulating, improves lymphatic and cardiovascular circulation and reduces toxins.
