WORCESTER, MA — A New York-style deli will soon open in a Highland Street space previously occupied by a beloved Lebanese restaurant.

A sign outside 143 Highland St., the former home of the Sahara Restaurant, says that Helfand's New York Style deli will soon open at the corner spot. The restaurant has a website, but it offers few clues as to what exactly will be on the menu.

According to property records, the Highland Street building was sold in December to Helfand's Real Estate LLC for $810,000. That LLC is registered to the law firm Shepard and Goldstein LLC located at 100 Front St. David Cohen, vice president at the commercial real estate firm Kelleher & Sadowsky, is also a member of the LLC.
