Holy Cross Men's Soccer to Host Lehigh

Free Family Weekend Entertainment: Crusaders to face Mountain Hawks Saturday Night

The Holy Cross Men's Soccer team will start Patriot League play on Saturday, Sept. 24, when it hosts Lehigh at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium at the Luth Athletic Complex at 7:35 p.m.

The Crusaders are 10-12-7 all-time versus the Mountain Hawks and are 2-2-0 over the last four games. Last year, Holy Cross defeated Lehigh, 1-0, on Sept. 26. The Mountain Hawks are 2-4-1 so far this season.

Men's Soccer is 4-0-0 in Patriot League season-openers under head coach Marco Koolman. The Crusaders are 4-0-0 at home so far this season, which is their best start at home in 14 years as they were also 4-0-0 in 2004.

“The team camaraderie has been very good," said Koolman. "We have been playing together and executing the game plans. The team has also been very resilient and have bounced back from our two losses very well. We have had so many different players contribute which has also been a positive.”

Senior Matt Villano leads the Crusaders with four goals and 10 points. Villano is tied for first in the Patriot League and 38th nationally in goals. His two game-winning goals are tied for first in the league and 20th nationally. For his career, Villano has six goals and three assists for 15 points.
