Holy Cross Rower Airlifted To Mass General: College
Hannah Strom, of Marion, was injured in last week's van crash in Vero Beach, Florida. She will continue her recovery in Boston.
WORCESTER, MA — A Holy Cross rower injured in last Wednesday's crash in Florida was airlifted to Mass General on Wednesday, according to college officials. The rower, Hannah Strom, of Marion, was being treated in a Florida hospital alongside other members of the team involved in the crash.
The college did not say why Strom was moved, except that she would "continue her recovery" at Mass General.
"We continue to pray for all of those injured, along with their families and friends," Holy Cross said in a statement.
Strom is one of four students still being treated after the Jan. 15 crash in Vero Beach, Fla. Junior Paige Cohen, of Atlanta, and senior Maegan Moriarty, of Old Lyme, Conn., were released over the weekend. The team's coach and another driver involved in the crash are also still in the hospital.
Sophomore rower Grace Rett died in the crash. Police have said that a van carrying the team was hit by a pickup truck when the driver turned into traffic at a busy intersection in Vero Beach. The team was in Florida for off-season training.
