Homeless Woman Charged With Multiple Break-Ins, Assault

A homeowner was asleep when a woman reportedly broke in, took belongings from the front porch and brought them to the back.

WORCESTER, MA—A homeless woman is facing several charges involving breaking and entering in Worcester.

Around 8:13 a.m. on Monday, June 18, police were called to a home on Fairmont, where a woman had reportedly gone into a home and taken belongings.

Neighbors and the homeowner talked to police and said that the homeowner was sleeping when a neighbor saw an unfamiliar woman go in the front door, leaving shortly thereafter carrying several bags. Thinking that this was odd behavior, the neighbor watched the woman carry the items to the rear of the home, said police.

The homeowner found the bags inside the garage, telling police all of those belongings were originally on the front porch.

Police spotted the suspect standing near the intersection of Bedford and Fairmont Avenues. The female suspect was seen standing by the intersection of Bedford and Fairmont Avenues. The homeowner tried to keep the female in the area while waiting for police, but she fled the scene toward Pilgrim and Puritan Aves.

The homeowner had a photo of the suspect on a cell phone, and the officer recognized her as Michelle Nazario-Colon, 31, homeless, Worcester.

Shortly after, a report came in to police that a female was going through the property on a Lamar Ave. home. Police were told that the woman did not take anything but was walking through the property.

Several police units responded and eventually made contact with Nazario-Colon. Nazario-Colon resisted arrest but was eventually subdued and placed in cuffs. She also initially gave officers her sister’s name but the officer was familiar with Michelle and knew it was her. A records check revealed that Nazario-Colon had five outstanding warrants out for her arrest. The warrants were for Breaking and Entering, Receiving Stolen Property, Larceny, and Breaking and Entering into a MV.

Nazario-Colon was charged today with Breaking and Entering in the Daytime with the Intent to Commit a Felony, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Willful Malicious Destruction of Property, Assault and Battery, False Name to a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest.
