How Much Snow Fell In MA During First Storm Of Winter 2022-23
The state saw a little more snow than predicted during a quick storm Sunday night, with western parts of the state seeing the most.
WORCESTER, MA — Surprise: winter is her for real now.
The first real snow event of the 2022-23 winter hit the state Sunday night, dropping a bit more snow than predicted — especially in parts of the state west of I-495.
Snow began falling in the Worcester area around 1:30 p.m. and didn't let up until after midnight. The storm caught some communities off guard, with dozens of crashes reported after Sunset across the area.
By contrast, the Boston area saw a lot less snow, with under an inch recorded at Logan Airport. The Berkshires got hit hardest, with some areas reporting 8 or more inches in a daylong storm.
The next chance of snow will come on Friday. The current forecast calls for rain mixed with a little snow in southern New England, except in the Berkshires, where 3 to 6 inches could fall.
"At this time, it appears the most considerable snow accumulations will be across northern New England, which is good news for winter sports enthusiasts!" the weather service said Monday morning.

- Tyngsboro — 0.8 inches
- Foxborough —2.5 inches

- Logan Airport — 0.9 inches
- Chelsea — 0.9 inches
- Sturbridge — 4.1 inches
- Shrewsbury — 1.9 inches
- Westborough — 1.9 inches
- North Attleborough — 1.1 inches
