Jillian's Worcester Set To Close: New Place To Open On James Street

Jillian's invites patrons to "party with them for the last time."

WORCESTER, MA — Owners of Jillian's Worcester sent out an invite to join them for a final time. Jillian's is set to close its doors as of March 31.

According to a post on Facebook, this weekend is "the last chance to hang with us and say goodbye." This game and entertainment venue will have a limited bar and food menu until closing. The venue was a mainstay, outlasting several other large billiard halls such as Boston Billiards, and also kept a steady run of live music on weekends.

Reasons for the closure are unclear.

"There is some change of ownership happening and a new billiards club will be opening on James Street," Jillian's said. "It won't be the same as Jillian's but it will have similarities. They are currently doing renovations over there so look out for a bar called 'Shooters' this spring!"

According to Wikipedia, the Jillian's chain was founded in 1985, originally opening in Boston (which is still open). By 2004, the company filed for bankruptcy and several were sold to competitors Dave and Buster's.
