Lenny Clarke Headlines 'A Night of Comedy' in Memory of Thomas Clardy
Clardy was killed in March when a driver smashed in to his stationary vehicle on the Massachusetts Turnpike.
WORCESTER, MA - In March, Trooper Thomas Clardy's life was taken abruptly when his vehicle was struck while stationary on the side of the Mass. Turnpike.
In an effort to inject some laughter to those who are trying to heal and cope, the State Police Association of Massachusetts is hosting "A Night of Comedy" in memory of their fallen brother.
Veteran comedian Lenny Clarke and friends rip it up in memory of Clardy in on Sunday, May 22, at 7 p.m. at the Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts.
Ticket proceeds will be donated to support the Clardy family.
Trooper Clardy died on March 16 after a speeding car crashed into his stationary vehicle during a traffic stop on the Mass. Pike in Charlton. He was pronounced dead at UMass Medical Center later that day.
David Njuguna, 30, of Webster is being charged after striking Clardy's stationary vehicle.
Clardy's supplemental shift that day was referred to as an Accident Incident Reduction Shift, which aims to prevent crashes.
Clardy was a US Marine Corps veteran. He joined the State Police in April 2005, graduating as a member of the 77th Recruit Training Troop. He started at the Brookfield, Northampton, and Sturbridge Barracks, and then for the Troop C Community Action Team. He was assigned to the Charlton Barracks in November 2012. He left behind a wife and six children.
