List: 47 Worcester Restaurants Seek Outdoor Dining Permits

WORCESTER, MA — Phase 2 of the reopening plan for Massachusetts began on Monday, and that means restaurants across the state can begin offering outdoor dine-in service for the first time since mid-March.

In Worcester, restaurants and breweries have to get permission from the city License Commission before changing seating plans to offer outdoor dining along sidewalks and other areas. The commission is stepping up the number of meetings it holds to handle incoming requests from businesses.

The expedited process for opening outdoor seating was put in place last week through an executive order by Worcester City Manager Edward Augustus Jr.

This week alone, these 47 restaurants will have hearings before the commission, which means they could be among the first to start offering dine-in service in the city.
