MA Corrections Officer Dies In Tragic Motorcycle Accident
The crash happened on Friday in Lancaster.
LANCASTER, MA — The victim of a fatal motorcycle accident over the weekend has been identified.
Aaron Gill, 51, of Townsend, was killed in a crash on his motorcycle in Lancaster on Friday. Gill was a sergeant with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections.
The crash happened on Route 117 near the area of Crawford Truck Sales, according to a news release by the town.

Police said an initial investigation found that the motorcycle was going west "when it failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway."
The Massachusetts Correction Officers Federated Union said Gill was a 27-year veteran who volunteered to remove rubble in New York City after 9/11.

Gill was also a proud founding member of the union's pipe and drum band.
"His passion for the union, his commitment to our values and his deep sense of brotherhood will never be forgotten," wrote the MCOFU. "Aaron’s legacy lives on in every note played, every flag raised and every life he touched."
