Man, 36, Dies After Route 2 Crash: State Police

TEMPLETON, MA — A 36-year-old Athol man died late Monday night after a crash along Route 2 in Templeton, according to state police.

The crash happened around 10 p.m. Monday when the man drove his sedan into the Otter River Road bridge abutment in the eastbound lanes, police said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not immediately know what caused the crash, and did not release the man's name.

The crash forced police to close Route 2 until around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
