Man Arrested After Armed Struggle With Worcester Cop Faces Prison
The 35-year-old pleaded guilty in federal court this week to a gun charge, according to prosecutors.
WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man who was arrested in 2018 after an armed struggle with a Worcester officer is now facing up to a decade in prison, according to federal prosecutors. Christopher Brown, 35, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a charge of being a felon in possession of a gun.
In November 2018, a Worcester officer was on patrol in the Main South area when he saw Brown with a gun in his waistband, according to a police press release. When the officer tried to arrest Brown, he struggled and then tried to run away.
The officer used a Taser to stop Brown, but it didn't work, according to police. Brown then tried to grab the Taser from the officer, and the two continued to struggle until backup arrived.
Police recovered a Taurus .38 revolver and 4 rounds of ammunition from Brown. The maximum federal sentence for being a felon in possession of a gun is 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine, according to federal prosecutors.
