Man Arrested for Assault, Attempt to Murder, Discharging Gun, After Alleged Fight Over Drugs

A man is under arrest after allegedly hitting a woman over the head with the handle of a gun, with the gun firing.

WORCESTER, MA—A man is facing charges, including attempt to murder, after an incident stemming from a man and woman running from an apartment after allegedly buying narcotics.

On Saturday, June 4, around 12:53 a.m., Worcester police responded to an Ingalls Street apartment for a report of a gunshot victim. A woman, 25, who was with her 30-year-old boyfriend, was bleeding from the head, and said she had been shot. She was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital, but it was determined she was not shot, but had a laceration.

The man and woman had gone into 76 Ward St. to buy drugs, said police, and met two men inside. An argument ensued inside, and during it, one of the suspects-Jayson Isaac, 30, 76 Ward St., pulled out a gun. The man and woman ran, each heading a different direction when they left the apartment. The woman tried to hide but Isaac found her, striking her over the head with what police believe was the handle of the handgun. During the assault, the gun fired a round, after which the woman ran and called police.

Officers surrounded the Ward Street apartment, and heard what sounded like someone falling in the back, spotting a man walking away from the rear. It appeared Isaac had jumped from the rear window. He was charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (firearm), Assault with the Intent to Murder and Possession of a Loaded Firearm without a License.

Isaac will be arraigned on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Worcester County District Courthouse. This investigation is ongoing.
