Man Charged In Worcester Home Burglary: Police
A man arrived home to find an accused burglar in his home Saturday evening, according to police.
WORCESTER, MA — A man was arrested on charges that he broke into a home in Worcester over the weekend. Police received a call reporting a breaking-and-entering in progress at 5:15 p.m. Saturday and responded to a home on West Boylston Street.
The homeowner arrived home and found that his home was vandalized and rummaged through, according to police. The victim reported that the suspect was still inside the home.
Police arrived and found the male suspect in the backyard. The man, later identified as 50-year-old Joseph Hayes, was in possession of stolen items. Police returned the items to the homeowner.
Joseph Hayes, 50, of North Brookfield, was charged with breaking-and-entering during the daytime with intent to commit a felony, larceny from a building, and willful and malicious destruction of property, according to police.
