Man With Child Sex Assault History Jailed For Child Porn

The 63-year-old Worcester man will serve more than 10 years in federal prison for possessing child pornography.

WORCESTER, MA — A 63-year-old Worcester man was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison this week for possessing child porn. Michael Chapman has multiple prior convictions for sexually assaulting children, according to federal prosecutors.

Chapman was arrested in 2017 after the FBI raided his home and found the pornography. He had uploaded some images to a Skype account, and had others stored on his computer, according to federal prosecutors. In September, he pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of child pornography at federal court in Boston.

Chapman's offenses date back to the 1980s. In 1984, he was convicted of child rape. Ten years later, he was convicted of transporting child pornography across state lines. Ten years after that in 2004, Chapman was convicted of assault and battery on a child under 14 and for possession of obscene material.

A federal judge on Thursday sentenced Chapman to 10 years in prison, plus seven years of supervised release.
