Man Dies After Boat Accident In Lake Quinsigamond

WORCESTER, MA — A man drowned in Lake Quinsigamond Saturday evening after he and another man were thrown from a boat, according to Worcester police.

Police and firefighters responded to near Regatta Point along the Worcester side of the lake near 6 p.m. after a report that two people had fallen off a boat. One man, a 26-year-old, was rescued from the lake with a leg injury, according to reports.

Near 10 p.m., dive teams pulled the body of a 31-year-old man from the lake about 200 yards from the shoreline, according to Worcester police. State police and environmental police assisted with the search.

Authorities did not immediately identify either the man who drowned or the man who was injured.

On Tuesday, a man either jumped or fell from the Kenneth Burns Memorial Bridge connecting Shrewsbury and Worcester. An off-duty Shrewsbury firefighter attempted to rescue the man, but he died after being pulled from the water.
