Man With Gun Arrested In Worcester

Worcester police encountered the 21-year-old along Main Street early Sunday morning.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester police arrested a 21-year-old man early Sunday morning for illegal possession of a gun. Wilbert Nieves was stopped in his car along Main Street northeast of Clark University.

Police encountered Nieves around 1:15 a.m. Sunday when they noticed him driving an unregistered Mazada. When officers approached the car, Nieves ran south along Main Street, police said. He was caught along Loudon Street, however.

When police searched Nieves' car, they found a handgun. Police arrested Nieves on charges of carrying a gun without a license, carrying a gun with a large capacity, possession of a large-capacity feeding device, and various other driving and weapons charges.
