Worcester Man Arrested In Manhunt After Assault: PD

The 25-year-old assaulted an ambulance driver along Route 146 in Uxbridge, police said.

WORCESTER, MA — Massachusetts State Police on Friday morning arrested a 25-year-old Worcester man accused of assaulting an ambulance driver along Route 146.

Police said the assaulted happened around 8:30 a.m. in Uxbridge. The man then ran into a wooded area, sparking a two-hour manhunt involving local police departments and a state police helicopter.

According to police, the man, who was not named, was riding in the ambulance after threatening to harm himself. Worcester police said the man had threatened police on Thursday.

After police located the man, he was taken to a medical facility for an evaluation. State police plan to charge him with assault and battery, being a disorderly person and trespassing.
