Manslaughter Charge In Worcester Shooting Death: DA

WORCESTER, MA — A 37-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter following a Dec. 10 shooting death that occurred at a home in the Main South area.

Suheil Ortiz, 21, was shot once in the chest just after 1 a.m. at a home at 15 Oread St. Djarflo Irving, a Rodney Street resident, was indicted by a grand jury on Tuesday on one charge of involuntary manslaughter, according to the Worcester County District Attorney.

Ortiz was shot during a gathering where "a small group of friends drinking and socializing," the DA's office said in a news release. Ortiz was pronounced dead at a Worcester hospital.

Irving was arrested on Dec. 10. He was ordered held without bail after an arraignment at district court in Worcester.
